Home after fantastic days in Leives. It was really a trip to remember filled with interesting meetings, laughs, stunning views and sunny strolls. We saw an amount of different lessons with a variety of methods. Even if we just visited every school one or two times each they seemed to have their own way of teaching and their own style; a kind of ”school spirit”. But the one thing the all hade in common was the very welcoming teachers that met us every day and made the whole trip!
If I just have to pick one lesson out of all that I visited it has to be an english lesson at Pineta primary school. The teacher was amazingly enthusiastic and ambitious. She teached a group of, I think, 9-year old students for a 60 minutes long lesson. The purpose was to learn words about ”how I start my day”. I liked that she used a lot of actual things, she had a trunk filled with everything from brushes, schampoo and clothes to toys and alarm clocks. I think it gets much more for real for the students to have actual things to look at and touch at the same time as they practice spelling, pronunciation and understanding. That´s something I shall do more often. With young students it´s not the same thing to show pictures and you will certainly get their attention easier, and get better results, when you combine your theoretical exercises with practical.
